History

The club is based in Lethbridge , Alberta it is approximately a 15 minute drive from the city center. The club was founded in October 1974 by Peter Paskuski, Bob Charlton, Bob Venables, Jim Wieler, Ray Cook and John Clack. Back then the club members flew from what is now the Bridge Villa Estates. Later on the club moved to just North of Coaldale, then to the West side of Lethbridge , and now to it's current location South East of Coaldale.

Flying Field

In the spring of 1999 the club had it's official opening of the new flying field. It boasts a 600' well manicured grass runway complete with underground sprinkler system. Our flying site is wide open with no plane grabbing trees or high fences to strain your plane through. The flying field is well cared for during the summer months. The winter months also see some flying and friendly discussion around the wood stove in the “shack”. This occurs on the nicer days of winter.

Introduction

Welcome. Windy West RC Club is a Lethbridge based model aircraft club with a flying site facility a 15 minutes east of the city.

The club prides itself on having members who “pitch in” – doing what is necessary to maintain our facility and support our annual special events.
Members pay a modest $60 annual membership to enjoy a facility with an irrigated grass airstrip (60' X 500').
We invite you to visit our field, to become a member, and share in our unique approach to model aviation.

Mission

The Club is comprised of members having a common interest in model aeronautics as a recreational sport.
Non-competitive in nature, the Club encourages participation and good fellowship for the modeler and his / her family.
The intent of the Club is to provide leadership within the general modeling community in improving safety, aircraft and piloting skills outside of competitive events.
Dedicated to promoting the sport, the Club acknowledges applicable national and international regulation as the standard for the non-competitive sector of model aeronautical activity.
Rules set out by the Club will be confined to matters of basic safety that are fundamentally consistent with other modeling organizations.
